Borrow, Reserve, Renew

Circulation services enable users to borrow and return books. These services include:

  • Patron Registration
    The Library creates accounts for new users to facilitate access to library resources, services and facilities.
  • Borrowing Books
    Registered users are entitled to borrow a certain number of books from the Open Shelves for a specific period. This allows patrons to use study materials outside the Library’s physical space. Books on the Reference Collection cannot be borrowed by users
  • User borrowing privileges are indicated below:

NB: Books are due on or before the date stamped on the due date slip. Overdue books attract a fine that will be paid at the accounts office. Fines are highlighted below:


The following table indicates the loan periods and fines for all borrowable books in the Library

Non-Teaching Staff$2 per day for every book that is overdue
Teaching Staff$2 per day for every book that is overdue
  • Renewals
    Users are permitted to extend the loan period of books through the renewal system. To ensure equitable distribution of resources, users can only renew books for a maximum of two times.
  • Reserves
    Libraries normally set aside books for specific courses for use by staff and students. Please note that MSUAS library is not offering this service currently.

Inter Library Loan (ILL)

MSUAS Library offers an Inter Library Loan (ILL) service where staff and students can request to borrow books not available at MSUAS Library from other libraries. Users should visit the library or contact the Client Services Librarian to access this service.

  • Orientation
    MSUAS Library conducts orientation in order to introduce students and staff to library resources, services and facilities. By providing a comprehensive overview, orientation sessions empower individuals to utilise the library effectively and efficiently. This not only enhances research capabilities and but also improves academic success and personal growth of users.
